The introduction of a global site search created

Project Goals:

Provide visitors with the ability to search for products offered by GoDaddy and assist them in finding relevant content, making it easier for customers to make a purchase decision.

Part of my responsibilities is to come up with ideas that are presented to Project Managers and the Design Management team. One pain-point was the inability to search GoDaddy.com as a whole. I presented the idea to the team and Site Search was born!

First phase of project:

My process:

Once the project kick-off is completed with the Project Manager and stake holders, my first step was to do a competitor analysis and review of best search practices. Next, wireframes are created with a proposed solution. The wireframes are then user tested to help solidify the direction and the wireframes revised based on feedback.

First set of wire frames below:

Search menu displayed showing the interaction after the user clicked the search icon and begins a search, taking in consideration the most popular customer search terms.

Site Search considered a win and performing well with 2-3K searches daily.

  • Site Search metrics +0.48% GCR

  • Click through rate at 0.17%

The second phase of the project was to create a search results page. Below are wires showing the search results after much collaboration with various team members to determine what exactly everyone would like to display on the page.

As 40% of GoDaddy's customers shop on mobile, the mobile view of each project is always taken into consideration to make sure it's a great experience for everyone.
